    This was such a fantastic video! I love how you left all the raw detail in there so we can learn together :) Very helpful, too, might I add. I am sad that it seems xtool didn't sent you the complete kit with the conveyer & rotary kit.. That's odd, considering I think you're one of the few who only received the laser. You definitely deserved one! Pardon me if this wasn't sponsored and I'm wrong!

    Gorgeous box and not super complicated, nice project. In one of your recent videos you mentioned needing to clean your tablesaw blade, what do you use to soften and remove the polished resin and sap deposits on your blades?

    A message to all the weirdos in these comments: I understand your desperation sitting in your lonely basements, but go make your creepy comments on a channel meant for them. There are actual woodworkers on here who may also enjoy the view but don’t want it to turn into a creepfest. Losers.

    What power and speed did you use for this? The blue laser from a diode and the blue tape generally, in my experience doesn't work well. Seem like you'd have better luck with regular beige masking tape....or not tape at all.

    I will watch this tomorrow morning over coffee Skyler. I discovered, from you, why I was having difficulty nailing my miters. It was due to my thin kerf blade. I have a Dewalt contractor saw like you had. If you have an affiliate link for good quality 10” blades, I’d shop through your link(s). I’d like to,try my hand at box making.

      Hi Derek, you should totally give it a go to making a box. You can combine resin with it too. You can use your laser to make the inlay pocket then fill with resin

    My 5th grade science teacher paired a male and female praying mantis in a cage he made out of screen. They mated and built one of those egg sacks. Before the babies hatched, the female ate the male. We came in one morning and the female was eating all that was left which was his head! Never forgot that.

    This is absolutely legit...I am in the middle of making a bunch of beer flight paddles and I ran some experiments on a piece of the cherry I'm going to use, and it works. I actually got the regular spray bottle as opposed to the aerosol as it was much cheaper. I also found that about 2 to 2 1/2 minutes was the best exposure time in my case. Gave it a nice deep red but not overly brown. I went as long as 4 minutes and by then it was extremely dark and not really the classic cherry look you're usually going for. Even a minute can give you a nice change in colour that some people might enjoy, as I imagine the cherry would still age over time as usual underneath whatever shade you got with the oven cleaner. Anyhoo it works very well and I was stunned at how fast and effective it was for making cherry look really incredible. Great stuff!

    and that is one of the biggest issues with oil / wax finishes. . yeah, looks better right now. . but, you'll have to do that pretty much every year to keep it looking that way. it will go flat and dull over and over again. Hence why people started using film finishes. I know the oil/wax thing has really grown a fan club over the past 5 - 10 years. but unless you have servants working in your home, you are going to have a part time job refinishing everything you use oil/wax on .

  • @the_bait_shop
    @the_bait_shop 5 днів тому

    it only gets that hot when left in the cup. . that will happen if you mix to much and don't use it all. 1/16 of an inch is a little thin in my experience. you can go thicker than that and it isn't going to get that hot, it will still be thin enough to cool via the air around it. the biggest safety concern NO ONE talks about is that you should be wearing a respirator. . . the gas that comes off epoxy is not good, and over time people can develop severe allergic reactions to epoxy. I've known multiple boat repairmen that have developed an allergic reaction and had to change jobs.

    If you Cut a V notch in the front of your push stick like the thin flimsy ones that come with your table saw, it gives you another option for pushing small pieces through.

    • @andrewavellino6427

      I forgot the name of the feature when I commented, it's called a birds mouth, the V notch that comes with the cheap flimsy plastic push stick that come with the table saws. If you cut one in the front of your homemade push stick it allows flexibly and another options for cutting. I will be using the sandpaper on the bottom tip from you from now on, thanks! Don't know how I didn't catch it earlier

    @WoodworkingwithSkyler thanks for sharing that gorgeous wood! I have to say several ideas came to mind. The first being use them in a top with the straight lines cleaned up a bit with a dark green and blue swirls of epoxy for a large hope chest or table top. But I think you could match book them into a family crest or shield...use red/orange shimmering epoxy in the voids to look like fire! I just discovered this guys channel on making keepsake boxes. I think you would really enjoy it! I literally had to stop, rewind and right down what he said! ua-cam.com/video/jUFD7PKk65A/v-deo.htmlsi=uvkLUlUdoNNObbxH

    The plywood looks so 3D in the cube pattern. Just a thought for you...if you use a thin scrap of plywood on the table saw bed it would raise the work up so the point doesn't ride under the fence. Although you are getting amazing results with your method!!!! Great work ❤
